Permaculture for Kids
What’s the best way to spread the word about permaculture to really make a difference in our future? Permaculture for Children!
MIS (Montessori Island School) visited PPI recently, to plant trees on a spring day between snowstorms!
After a planting demo they planted 6 trees…..Chinese Chestnuts, American Hazelnuts and 2 hardy apple trees to fill in our edible windbreak … They explored the warm Rolling High Tunnel Greenhouse, sampling spicy arugula, spinach, edible viola flowers and edible weeds like dandelion!
PPI (Mona) visited MIS Montessori Island School in early April to demonstrate how to make soil cubes to start their seeds in, these don’t require plastic containers and naturally air prune so when they are planted they are ready to take off and grow!
Pictured are our mini cubes for PPI’s small seeds like celery, lettuce and broccoli. We can fit more than 300 mini cubes on a 10×20 tray!
PPI partnered with Farm 2 School Park County to begin their permaculture garden at the historic Lincoln School in downtown Livingston. Check out the variety of fruit trees, berry bushes and more perennial edibles.
